Some organizations will be using the Locks of Love program to “reward” kids for a job well done by reaching their goal for fundraising or TAKS testing. What a great idea to achieve your goal and have the feeling of also giving back!
Whether you are in high school, middle school or elementary school, or even in college - look around in your community and see where the Locks of Love action is.
What a way to beat those “Back to School” blues! Check out teachers cutting and donating their lovely locks, as well as school administrators, students and entire classes (we had one a group from Beverly Elementary in Plano!).
Many schools are organizing a "Give Back Day" or "Service Matters Day" where you get to give back to the community and what better way than to donate your hair to someone who needs it the most - a young person who has lost their hair due to medical treatment, or for another similar reason.
Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hair to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 18, who have lost their hair to a medical condition.
READY TO DONATE? Here's some tips:
- Your hair must be a minimum length of 10 inches for a donation after it is cut.
- Curly hair can be pulled straight to make the 10 inch requirement.
- Your hair can be colored or permed; however bleached hair cannot be accepted as the bleach causes the hair to dissolve as it goes through the manufacturing process.
Anyone can donate hair - moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends! And - at Frinj - we offer 50% off your cut and style if you donate your hair to Locks Of Love - and you'll be featured on our website too!
Learn more about how you can give back. Look in your community for Locks of Love events and in the meantime, keep growing that hair!
